Dr. Joy Browne
Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Joy Browne is a licensed clinical psychologist and host of her own nationally syndicated daily three hour radio program - the longest running program of its kind, heard on the WOR Radio Network and attracts more than nine million listeners daily.  Dr. Browne provides advice on topics including marriage, relationships and workplace issues.
 
Dr. Browne has won the American Psychological Associations President’s Award and Talkers Magazine award for Best Female Talk Show Host two years in a row.  In addition, Dr. Browne was listed tenth on the “25 Greatest Radio Talk Show Hosts of All Time” and is an accomplished author of nine books and co-author of five more including: “It’s A Jungle Out There Jane,” “Dating for Dummies,” “The Nine Fantasies That Will Ruin Your Life,” and her newest books, “Getting Unstuck”, and “Dating Disasters.”  She is currently the host of an hour show on Discovery Health that is seen twice daily and has previously had her own daily show on CBS as well as being a frequent guest on the CBS’ The Early Show, Oprah Winfrey, Larry King Live, Lisa Lopes Show, MTV, Cold Pizza and Court TV.
 
In addition to her professional pursuits, Dr. Browne is an active volunteer, establishing the “Dr. Joy to the World Foundation” that is involved in helping young men and women obtain their high school diplomas as an important step in reducing domestic violence.  She is also a member of the advisory council of the New York Mayor’s Commission Against Domestic Violence, has served as board of directors of the Herbert G. Birch Summer Project for children and families living with HIV and AIDS and has worked extensively with the Salvation Army to provide counseling after the World Trade Center disaster.
 
A former teacher, private practice therapist and social service director for the Boston Redevelopment Authority, Dr. Browne also spent time as an archeologist digging in the south of France and as an engineer for the space program.
 
Dr. Browne holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. from Northeastern University in Boston as well as a B.A. from Rice University in Houston. She did post doctoral work at Tufts University Medical School and passed part I of National Medical Boards.  She is a mom, a godmother, a hot air balloonist, a good friend and a current New Yorker.
