Physically Disabled Singles
Work with single adults sharing
social, recreational and intellectually stimulating
events under the guidance of a social worker at the Five
Towns YM-YWHA.
Time required: 7:30 -9:00 pm, two Mondays a month and
some Sunday afternoons.
Location: 207 Grove Avenue, Cedarhurst
Campership Program
Peninsula Section provides a
healthy, fun-filled camping experience for specially
selected children each summer. Volunteers assist
families and coordinate the entire program.
Time required: Hours flexible, January - June.
Pre-School Vision Screenings
Teams of volunteers are trained to
test pre-school children for eye problems. Early
identification can prevent serious visual problems that
might otherwise go undetected.
Time required: Two hours a week, while screening is
taking place. Morning or afternoon.

SIBS
SIBS is a prevention
and support program for the siblings of children with
cancer and other devastating illnesses. This
one-of-a-kind program helps children and teens ages 5 -
17.
Time required: 3 - 8 pm Tues or Thursday (Flexible
during time-frame)
Locations: Brooklyn, Hewlett

Pre-School Dental Screenings
The dentist, along with
three volunteers, goes to various local nursery and
elementary schools where nutrition and tooth care are
discussed. Volunteers help the dentist to examine
children's teeth.
Time required: Hours flexible.
